QRCS's second 'Little Hearts' medical convoy in Bangladesh draws to a close

The "Little Hearts" medical convoy from Sidra Medicine, deployed by Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) to Bangladesh, has completed a successful humanitarian mission involving 160 poor children with congenital heart defects.Over six days, the delegation performed 100 significant cardiac catheterisations, and training local medical professionals in advanced techniques first introduced to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Dhaka.The representation mission of QRCS in Bangladesh secured all necessary approvals from the Bangladesh ministry of health (MoH), as well as all the necessary surgical supplies, medical equipment, and consumables.On the last day of the project, the NICVD management honoured the QRCS personnel and the Sidra Medicine team, in recognition of their humanitarian efforts to save the lives of poor children, by supporting the cardiac catheterisations for free.This is the second medical convoy carried out by QRCS in Bangladesh this year, in co-ordination with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and NICVD.Omar Ghazi Ahmed, head of monitoring and evaluation at QRCS headquarters in Doha, visited the delegation and met the beneficiaries and officials at NICVD.According to Abdelmounaim Mhindate, head of QRCS’ mission in Bangladesh, medical convoys are key health projects implemented by QRCS in Bangladesh, typically co-ordinated with BDRCS and NICVD."We make sure to provide everything necessary to achieve the desired goal of saving the lives of poor children suffering heart disease, thus helping them restore their normal lives," he said.Mhindate thanked the Qatar embassy in Bangladesh for effectively facilitating the mission of the medical delegation throughout their stay in the country.
