*His Highness Sheikh Tamim holds telephone conversations with Kuwaiti Amir and Crown Prince
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held on Saturday evening a telephone conversation with the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah during which he inquired after his health, praying to Allah Almighty to bestow upon the Kuwaiti leader good health and wellness.
His Highness the Amir also held a telephone conversation with the Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah during which the Amir checked on the health of Kuwaiti Amir , praying to Allah Almighty to bestow upon the Kuwaiti leader good health and wellness.
The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah was admitted to hospital on Saturday to undergo a number of medical checkups.
The Kuwaiti Amiri Diwan announced that an Amiri Order has been issued assigning Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah to take over some constitutional jurisdictions of the Amir of Kuwait, temporarily.
Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) quoted a statement issued on Saturday by Minister of the Amiri Diwan Affairs in Kuwait Sheikh Ali Jarrah al-Sabah as saying: "An Amiri order was issued assigning His Highness the Crown Prince to take over some constitutional jurisdictions of His Highness the Amir, temporarily."
Sheikh Sabah has ruled the OPEC oil producer and US ally since 2006.
Last year, Sheikh Sabah was admitted to hospital in the United States while on an official visit there. He returned to the Gulf Arab state in October.
Kuwait's central bank governor issued a statement on Saturday after news of the Amir's hospitalisation stressing the strength and stability of the dinar currency, which is pegged to a weighted basket of the country's big trading partners.
