The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Friday reported 421 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, one death and 429 recoveries from the infection during the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 153 and total number of recovered cases to 102597.
The deceased was a 85 year old patient and was receiving the necessary medical care, the Ministry said.
All new cases have been introduced to isolation and are receiving necessary healthcare according to their health status, MoPH added.

Measures to tackle Covid-19 in Qatar have succeeded and it is evident from the downward trend of the graph of the daily number of cases, the Ministry said. The number of new daily hospital admissions too continues to decline each week, MoPH pointed out.
The Ministry also said it is the proactive and extensive testing of suspected cases that has enabled Qatar to identify high number of positive cases in the community even as Qatar has one of the lowest Covid-19 death rates in the world.
The minimal death rate is because of the very high quality of care provided thorough the public healthcare sector for Covid-19 patients, MoPH said. Qatar’s young population, proactive testing to identify cases at the earliest, and the expanding hospital capacity, especially intensive care that ensures all patients receive the necessary medical care are the other reasons.
The Ministry also reminded that, even though restrictions are being lifted, and the number of infections are going down, these do not mean that the Covid-19 pandemic is ceased to exist in Qatar. The fact that, even now, 50 and 100 people are being admitted to hospitals with moderate to severe Covid-19 symptoms every day should be kept in mind.
Unless all precautionary measures are followed, the country may experience a second wave of the virus and see the numbers going up as is already seen in other countries around the world, the Ministry cautioned.
Therefore, precautions like avoiding close contact with others, not going to crowded places and getting confined within closed spaces with other people etc. are to be strictly followed. And all must vigilant, now more than ever, to protect the most vulnerable in the society, MoPH urged.

MoPH also said that it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by adhering to the following precautionary measures too: maintaining social distancing, wearing face masks, and washing hands regularly.
As it is said earlier, it is of utmost importance that everyone should continue to protect the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions, the Ministry reminded.
MoPH also said that anyone suffering from Covid-19 symptoms should either contact 16000 helpline or go directly to any of the following designated health centers to undergo the necessary checks: Muaither, Rawdat Al Khail, Umm Slal, and Al Gharafa. This is important as the earlier the disease is detected the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it.
MoPH also advised all to visit this dedicated section of its website for regular updates and new information on Covid-19.
