HE the Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud, who is also President of the Global Organisation of Parliamentarians Against Corruption, chaired Tuesday via video conference the meeting of the body's executive committee.
The meeting discussed future activities of the organisation and examined the initiatives it plans to undertake to achieve its goals in co-ordination with world parliaments and other international organisations focused on combating corruption.
Delivering a speech, HE al-Mahmoud stressed the organisation's key role in protecting public money and in enhancing transparency and the rule of law to serve sustainable development in countries all over the world.
HE al-Mahmoud also stressed Qatar's leading role in fighting corruption, and praised the decision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in establishing the Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad al-Thani Anti-Corruption Excellence Award, which coincides with International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9 of every year.
The executive committee then took a number of decisions that aim to achieve the organisation's goals and co-ordinate with the United Nations in combating corruption.
