The Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs, represented by the General Department of Endowments, has launched the third phase of distributing food baskets to needy families in Qatar affected by the coronavirus (Covid-19).
The ministry has been supporting about 1,500 families with more than 6,000 individuals registered with Hifz AlNaema Center, providing them with integrated food baskets in the first and second phases. Besides, the ministry is co-operating with Widam company to distribute meat to them.
On Eid al-Fitr, the ministry distributed clothing to these families as well as about 2,600 workers through Zakat Fund.
HE the Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Thani stressed the ministry's keenness to develop food baskets and encourage Hifz AlNaema Center to reach out to all families affected by the epidemic.
He said that they are trying to help Hifz AlNaema Center reach the largest number of beneficiary families, calling on everyone to support the third phase.
