The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) praised the efforts of Qatar’s Khalil al-Mohannadi, President of the Qatar and Arab Table Tennis Federations, and ITTF and ATTF First Vice-President, in developing and promoting table tennis, after joining the World Table Tennis (WTT).
In a statement on its official website, ITTF said that al-Mohannadi will play a prominent role through his presence in the board of directors in the newly-created WTT, which will be chaired by Chinese Liu Guoliang. The WTT’s role is to increase the game’s investments and market it better by introducing strong competitions with large financial rewards and returns from massive TV broadcasting and corporate sponsors.
The ITTF explained that al-Mohannadi, with his vast experience in the game, will contribute to the success of WTT after having played a prominent role since becoming his first role as vice president in 2014 with the ITTF.
Serving as a prominent member of the Executive Committee, he has achieved successes and has implemented good governance in management.
“WTT is providing table tennis the platform it needs in order to grow and become one of the biggest sports on the planet, so I am truly excited to be involved in the leadership of WTT,” said al-Mohannadi.
“In recent years, we have improved table tennis’ status globally, but now we have an incredible opportunity to achieve our ambitious goals for the future,” he added.
“Al-Mohannadi has achieved so much for our sport already and it is fantastic news for the table tennis community that his rich experience and expertise will be utilised for the benefit of WTT. The future of table tennis is looking brighter than ever,” ITTF President Thomas Weikert commented.
