Representatives of Qatari companies yesterday lauded their co-operation with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and stressed their commitment to deliver projects in line with the highest standards. 
They made the observations while attending a remote ceremony organised by Ashghal to sign nine new construction contracts for infrastructure development projects in new citizens’ subdivisions. These projects, with a total value of around QR3.6bn, will serve more than 5,111 residential plots in different areas of the country.
Sheikh Ali bin Hamad al-Thani, representative of Hamad Bin Khalid Contracting Company, praised Ashghal’s efforts and focus on encouraging Qatari companies to take part in infrastructure development works in Qatar. He said, “We have signed a contract with Ashghal for the construction of Package 1 of the Umm Slal Mohamed infrastructure project with a value of QR623mn. We are very happy with this co-operation and will proudly provide our technical knowledge and experience through different phases of the construction.”
Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed al-Thani, representative of Al Jaber & Partners Construction & Energy Projects, who signed a contract for the  Semaisma South roads and infrastructure project (Package 2), said: “The government’s commitment to the implementation of vital projects that serve the citizens of Qatar in the current conditions is an evidence on its resilience. We, as local companies, are happy to co-operate with the government to achieve more success for Qatar.”
Ali al-Mostafawi, Qatar Building Company’s representative, said: “We signed with Ashghal a contract valued at QR384mn for the infrastructure project in Al Ebb & Leabaib (Package 2). This is not the first time that we are collaborating with Ashghal as we have already been working on several projects for infrastructure development, and are very keen on delivering projects to the standards set by the authority.”
For his part, Saleh al-Sulaiti, Boom Construction Company representative, said: “We value the visible efforts of all parties concerned in developing Qatar’s infrastructure for the benefit of the country and its citizens. We are happy to renew our co-operation with the Public Works Authority to implement the first and second packages of the roads and infrastructure project in Mebaireek.” Hashim Abdulla al-Hashmi, representative of Al Tawfeeq & Partners Contracting, which signed a contract for Package 8 of the infrastructure project in Al Meshaf South, said: “We thank Ashghal for putting its trust in Qatari contractors and in their ability to deliver development projects to the highest standards.”
While attending the ceremony, Ashghal president Dr Saad bin Ahmad al-Muhannadi said a forum would be held in the coming period for contractors and local manufacturers to enhance co-operation and co-ordination on supporting national products, ensuring their compliance with the authority’s standards and their ability to meet projects needs, as well as ensuring that these projects are delivered in accordance with the schedule.
