The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) implemented several awareness campaigns and inspection tours in different municipalities in June to inspect quarries and agricultural quarantine offices in various customs outlets affiliated to the agricultural affairs department at the ministry.

During the campaigns, the ministry's teams inspected 5,200 consignments weighing 134,071 tonnes of various types of imported agricultural consignments (plant consignments and production input products) at all customs outlets in the country.

During the campaigns, the ministry's teams destroyed 56 consignments weighing 132 tonnes for violating the agricultural quarantine law. In co-operation with Al Khor, Al Thakhira, and Al Shamal municipalities, the ministry, represented by the department of public hygiene, has implemented field campaigns at Ras Al Nouf and Al Ghariya beaches to educate the beachgoers about the need to adhere to the cleanliness of the beaches and distributed waste bags and educational pamphlets, urging them to throw the waste at the containers designated for that. The ministry's teams called on the public to take all precautions and preventive measures to preserve public health and safety.

The department of natural reserves of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, represented by Al Khor marine unit, distributed waste bags to beachgoers to educate the public about the need to preserve the environment and throw waste in the containers designated for that. During the first half of this year, the health control section of the department of municipal control of the Doha Municipality implemented 15,88 inspections tours on all food establishments within the geographic scope of the municipality and the Industrial Area.

The tours resulted in the issuance of 588 minutes of controlling violations of the human food control regulation law, and issuance and implementation of closure decisions for 129 violation food establishments, 49 of which were reconciled after removing the causes of violations and paying fines, and 178 food samples were withdrawn to ensure compliance with the specifications.

The veterinarian team of the department of health control examined 460,249 carcasses at the automatic slaughterhouse in the central market, where 12,606 carcasses were completely destroyed, and 10.5 tonnes of meat were destroyed for being partially not fit for human consumption. Besides, 139 tonnes of fish were examined where 1.3 tonnes were destroyed for being not suitable for human consumption.

The complaints team of the department received 333 complaints, and they were answered within 24 hours of receiving them.

Umm Salal, Al Daayen, and Al Rayyan municipalities carried out, in co-ordination with the competent authorities, numerous campaigns to raise and remove abandoned cars and attacks on state property in implementation of the provisions of the law.
