A partial solar eclipse was seen in different parts of the Philippines yesterday afternoon.
Several members of the Philippine Astronomical Society gathered in Pasig City to see this year’s solar eclipse, ABS-CBN News reported.
Using telescopes and viewing apparatuses, the skywatchers looked high to see the partial eclipse. The event was seen in different parts of the world, including in Africa and Asia.
In other countries, the moon almost completely covers the sun, resulting in a “ring of fire” or annular solar eclipse.
In the Philippines, a partial solar eclipse was seen. The eclipse was first seen at around 3.01pm. At around 4.22pm, 70% of the sun was covered.
In Batanes and Taiwan, around 90% of the sun was covered.
The annular solar eclipse coincided with this year’s summer solstice.
