The Education City Stadium will become a sports, recreational, educational and social center for the Qatar Foundation community, and the Qatari community as a whole after the World Cup.

Known as the 'Jewel of the Desert', the 40,000-seat stadium, will host matches up to the quarter-finals of the World Cup Qatar 2022.

President of Pre-University Education at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (PUE, QF) Buthaina Ali al-Nuaimi said the stadium, when its capacity is reduced by half and 20,000 of its seats are donated to support the construction of stadiums in developing countries, will become the headquarters of two progressive schools of Qatar Foundation.

Al-Nuaimi said both Academyati and Qatar Academy for Science and Technology (QAST), which are under the umbrella of pre-university education at Qatar Foundation, will have the Education City Stadium as their premises as soon as the first edition of the FIFA World Cup in the Middle East and the Arab world is over.

" A part of the stadium will include buildings for each school, in addition to a third building that combines facilities for the two schools," she said.

Buthaina Ali al-Nuaimi said both Academyati and Qatar Academy for Science and Technology will have a vital role in this place. "Young students will begin to acquire life skills that shape their lives and develop them inside the stadium, and they will be a vivid example of its value for Qatar, and an affirmation that it is more than just an amazing sports edifice."

She noted that Academyati , an innovative school that follows a new curriculum based on the interests of students, focusing on experiential learning and designing individual learning models for each student, was founded in 2019. The school building will include 23 basic educational spaces, in addition to a space for teaching visual arts and music and a a multipurpose hall for athletics. The Academy will strive to meet the needs of students between the ages of 3 and 18.

"The Qatar Academy for Science and Technology building will also include 12 educational studios, three science laboratories, an entrepreneurial laboratory, wood and technology business studios, electronics and metal stores, spaces for graphic design and video production, as well as a workspace," she added.

The educational process for students of these two progressive schools will have more advantages thanks to the inspiring environment around them, as the stadium itself will transfer knowledge and information about the importance of innovation, sustainability, health and well-being, she said noting that the primary goal of Education City Stadium is to create a legacy, and this goal will become clear after the end of the FIFA World Cup, as it will be a center for learning, creativity and exploration.

Al-Nuaimi said that Academyati works to provide an educational experience that suits the individual needs of students, especially that each child has unique characteristics, and has specific needs, interests and strengths, and therefore each student is taught according to a comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing the development of his personal skills and creative capabilities in a stimulating and supportive learning environment. The Qatar Academy of Science and Technology is designed for students wishing to obtain a specialised education in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics to become creative students who master the knowledge and skills required to find solutions to the challenges facing Qatar and the world.

“Our students develop a personalised programme of studies in engineering, computer science, and biological sciences, and participate in research and internships within Qatar Foundation’s diverse community of universities and research and development laboratories. Our students conduct authentic research and problem-solving by way of our award-winning CRISP curriculum, and in the last two years students have taken challenging A-Level or AP courses that allow them to compete for seats at some of the world’s best universities,” said Dr Gregory Moncada, director of QAST said.

“We are privileged to be near Education City Stadium and Academyati, in a destination that is sure to become a vibrant hub of progressive learning and exciting sport.”

The Education City Stadium is the third ready stadium to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament , and is the first Qatar 2022 Stadium to receive a five-star sustainability certificate from the Global Sustainability Assessment System program.

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) recently announced the readiness of the Education City stadium, labeled as the 'Jewel of the Desert' and located in Qatar Foundation, which is based on an innovative environment that combines education, research, science and community development.
