The Ministry of Municipality and Environment has announced that 32 people have won the photography competition capturing the nature and wildlife in Qatar. The event was organised by the Environmental Affairs Department in the ministry in co-operation with the Qatar Photographic Society.
The competition consisted of two categories: photo and video.
In the photo category, there were 30 winners, including top 20 positions and 10 special award winners.
In the video category, there were two winners.
The competition aimed to educate the public on the importance of preserving the environment and its natural components and ensuring its sustainability, in line with the objectives of the ministry’s sustainable strategy 2018-2022, in addition to highlighting the means of awareness in the field of the environment and its protection.
There were 502 participants in the competition, while the number of photos and videos submitted was 1,037 and 65 respectively.
In remarks yesterday, Faisal Ahmed al-Mannai, chairman of the jury, said that the ministry established a portal for the competition on its website with the conditions, foundations, and rules.
There is a link to download the contestants’ posts from photos, movies, and videos, with the possibility of replacing the image after a period by the contestant.
Al-Mannai noted that the competition was carried out in accordance with the highest specifications and conditions followed in similar international competitions, taking into account the characteristics of the Qatari environment images.
