With Qatar set to gradually lift Covid-19 restrictions, the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security under the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has explained the types of personal boats that will be permitted from Monday and the safety measures that are to be followed.
Like many other activities and sectors, the return of marine activities, too, will happen in phases starting with the use of personal boats from Monday.
In an infographic on Twitter, the MoI said the personal boats allowed include private cruisers not licensed for fishing and designated for 'picnics', as well as jet boats. These boats are to be used at half their capacity.
Also permitted are sambuks and personal yachts, where a maximum of 10 people are allowed.
The boats that are permitted should be used individually or for members of the same family from the same house, in addition to the driver.
It is mandatory to contact the specified numbers to determine the vessel's route while ensuring strict adherence to the necessary safety procedures.
For enquiries, one has to call 2354666 or 2354923.
As per the comprehensive plan for the gradual lifting of restrictions announced recently, boat/yacht rentals will be allowed for families, with up to 10 people, from Phase 2.
Excursion boats will be allowed from the fourth phase.
The four-phase lifting of restrictions begins on June 15, followed by the second stage on July 1, the third on August 1 and the fourth and final on September 1.
