Adel Abdulla continued his unbeaten run at the Qatar Online Racing Championship (QORC) for rally cars, while Mansour Dbeissy and Zakariya Alofi swept all the stages in their groups in the second round.
Abdulla leads Group A with a maximum 80 points, having not put a foot wrong so far and won all the 15 stages. Qatar’s T3 category rally ace was again impressive in PlayStation as he showed his skills in the World Rally Championship 8. The second round was set at the simulated asphalt terrain in France.
In Group B, Dbeissy was locked a fierce battle with Ahmad Kholy, with both tied at 76 points each. Dbeissy managed to get better of Kholy in the second round, but the latter stayed close to his rival after finishing runner-up in the eight stages. Kholy had topped the group after the first round.
In Group C, Oman’s Alofi dominated Hamad al-Sulaiti, and after round two both racers shared the top spot with 76 points apiece. Ahmed al-Kuwari was tied third with Khalid Saadoun on 63 points each.
Oman’s Ammar Balushi occupied the top spot in Group D, ahead of Khalid al-Maraghi and Kuwait’s Mishari al-Thefiri.
Today’s third and final qualifying race will be held in Argentina’s simulated gravel terrain. The top six qualifiers will make it to the final week, with the winners receiving QR15,000 in prize money. The runner-up will take home QR13,000, while third-placed competitor will get QR10,000.
The online competition, conducted by the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) has gained in popularity after it was held for cars and bikes in the last two months. In total 28 competitors have registered for the championship.
