The great success of the distance learning process in completing the academic year 2019/2020 confirms that the coronavirus pandemic has not affected the educational process, or even the start of the new academic year in Qatar. 
Educational experts as well as schools’ administrations, teachers and specialists have emphasised that the remote educational programme that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education put in place following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has helped students access their educational content at all times and do their homework using the Internet, thereby reducing the teachers’ efforts in the daily and weekly evaluation process, and enabling the teachers to share the interactive lessons through using the whiteboard, texts, audio and video, as well as recording the illustrated and viewing lessons.
As regards high school students, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education gave paramount importance to them completing their academic year of 2019/2020. 
General lessons were provided to them in all subjects, and efforts were made to ensure that they covered the goals through multiple learning platforms and continuous communication between them and teachers.
Around 11,500 students are taking the final exams at present, for high school certificate of the second study term of the educational year of 2019/2020 (day schools and adult education students). The exams have been going well according to the schedule prepared by the ministry. The students are distributed among 149 headquarters, with around 6,100 employees allocated to work as observers and in various committees.
In this context, the ministry worked in co-ordination with each of the Ministry of Pubic Health and others in the country to ensure that the exams are conducted in a safe environment. 
The Student Assessment Department has undertaken a number of procedures to conduct the tests safely under the present conditions, such as ensuring that there are a maximum of only 8 students per class, and 40 students in a large gym and maintaining a distance of up to 4 meters, and avoiding congestion in the test rooms.
Besides taking the body temperatures of students and staff, masks, gloves, and sterilisation tools have been provided at all test centres, grade control and control headquarters.
HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi, has emphasised that the ministry has taken all the preventive and precautionary measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, and to ensure the health and safety of the students and all schools’ employees during the exams.
He noted that the ministry had set special standards and requirements of safety, regarding the safe distance between students and providing a safe and healthy environment to take the exams, as well as reducing the time allocated for the test and the number of questions included in each test.
As per a ministerial decision issued by HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education, recently to amend some provisions of the annual calendar of schools for the academic year 2019/2020, the second round of exams for all grades for the academic year 2019/2020 will start from Aug 23, 2020 and end on Aug 31, 2020, provided that staff time in schools begins for the academic year 2020/2020 from Aug 19 of 2020, and students attend beginning September 1, 2020.
The success of this e-learning experience confirms the development of the teaching and learning system in Qatar, the availability of multiple educational resources, and the degree of readiness in terms of options and opportunities for any emergency situation such as the coronavirus pandemic.
