Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality's health control section conducted 686 inspection tours in May on a number of major food outlets, mainly into dairy products, juices, fresh poultry and table eggs, in addition to other food facilities and outlets.
Besides, the section conducted 37 joint and surprise inspection campaigns with participation of the section's veterinarians and inspectors. During the same period, 17 violation reports were issued according to law no. 8 for 1990 on the regulation of human food control, with seven food outlets shut with administrative orders.
In the meantime, 3,549 slaughtered livestock carcasses were inspected at the slaughterhouses with 61 whole carcasses destroyed for being unfit for human consumption.
Similarly, 1,060kg of fish were destroyed out of 628,050kg of fish inspected at the fish market and the fishing harbour at Al Khor.
