More than 300 volunteers working in different shifts have been supporting the country’s efforts to fight the spread of Covid-19 as part of the volunteer campaign at shopping centres, organised by Qatar Voluntary Centre.
The initiative comes as part of a co-operation agreement between the Ministry of Culture and Sports and Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The volunteers are exerting continuous efforts to raise public awareness on the precautionary and preventive measures that are to be strictly followed to prevent the spread of Covid-19, according to a press statement.
The centre has been successful in carrying out various community initiatives and activities in co-operation with entities in different sectors across the country since the start of the Covid-19 outbreak.
In particular, people have appreciated the efforts made by the centre’s volunteers in organising entry and exit at major shopping centres to preserve people’s health and safety by covering all parts of such places, the statement notes.
Maeid al-Qahtani, executive manager of the centre, stressed that they have always been ready to co-operate with different entities and organisations in the country for the good of the people.
He said the campaign started during the holy month of Ramadan and is still continuing as it has seen great success and achieved the set targets. He added that the centre is keen to ensure the safety of society and enhance the spirit of teamwork and collective action among the people to overcome such difficult times.
