The Sri Lankan embassy in Doha, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Presidential Secretariat and Sri Lankan Airlines, repatriated 275 Sri Lankans on Tuesday.

The group repatriated by Sri Lankan Airlines flight UL 218 included 17 released inmates, five safe house detainees, 17 pregnant women with family members, 19 on visit and other short-term visas and 206 migrant workers who had lost or ended their jobs, the embassy said.

All repatriated Sri Lankans will be undergoing mandatory quarantine at designated government quarantine centres or at hotels allocated for this purpose.

"The embassy wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, the Civil Aviation Authority of Qatar and Hamad International Airport for their invaluable assistance and co-operation in this endeavour," the embassy added.
