The Government of India has decided that the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) will be issued in all cases only after the receipt of fresh police verification on the PCC application, the Indian embassy has announced.
This will apply to all categories of applicants, according to a notification posted by the embassy on its social media pages yesterday.
Applicants who intend to obtain a PCC have been advised to submit their PCC application well in advance, as these certificates will be issued only after due police verification, the notification states.
The embassy has also clarified that PCCs are not required for stranded citizens to return to India. “The new procedure applies to PCC applications submitted for consular services,” it adds.
