* 14 violations detected in Al Sheehaniya Municipality

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has called on those with certificates for using farmhouses to adhere to their designated purpose, which is limited to private housing and not other purposes such as workers' housing, renting them or any other illegal uses.
In a statement Saturday, the MME said the competent municipalities will carry out inspection campaigns to monitor and inspect the use of such houses. If it is proven that they are being used for purposes other than those designated for them, legal measures will be taken to withdraw the user certificates of violators, QNA reported.
It noted that changing a house using into workers' accommodation or renting it to others, as was recently observed, or any other purpose, is considered a violation of the usufruct certificate granted by the MME.
In this context, Al Sheehaniya Municipality carried out an inspection campaign in the Rawdat Rashid area to ensure that people with a certificate for such houses should adhere to the original purpose.
The campaign resulted in the detection of 14 violations at farmhouses whose usage was changed from residential to warehouse. The necessary legal measures were taken as this is a violation of the provisions of Law No 10 of 1987 regarding public and private State properties.
