The health authorities have highlighted the importance of the Elderly Telephone Reassurance Service in "looking after our elders during Covid-19".
A post shared on the social media platforms of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Hamad Medical Corporation and the Primary Health Care Corporation sheds light on the service through an infographic.
"Older people and those with chronic medical conditions are more likely to develop severe symptoms if they get Covid-19. For this reason, it is especially important that you follow preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection," it says.
The infographic states that "if you are over 60 years of age with chronic health conditions and need more health and safety information, we can help you".
"A healthcare professional will contact you over the coming weeks to provide health advice and reassurance to support your health and well-being during these difficult times," it points out.
The MoPH has developed a set of Covid-19 educational materials on different conditions in order to help people stay safe. One can visit moph.gov.qa or call 16000 to learn more.
