The Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs announced the continuation of the closure of mosques and the suspension of congregational prayers (the five obligatory prayers and Friday prayers) until the condition of safety and tranquillity for the worshippers is met, while the call to prayer (Adhan) in all mosques continues.
The ministry said in a statement that Imam Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhab Mosque is exempted from this decision, where Friday prayers will be held exclusively, in the presence of (40) worshippers only, including the imam and the mosque's employees. Isha and Taraweeh prayers will also be performed there during the blessed month of Ramadan, in the presence of the imam and four of the mosque's employees, taking into account the health precautions directed by the Ministry of Public Health.
The ministry confirmed that it will continue to communicate with the competent authorities to follow up on the situation of the coronavirus (Covid-19), and it will reopen all mosques once the epidemic is contained.
It said that this procedure has been adopted to ensure the safety of the community.
The ministry added that these prayers will be broadcast to the public on television and radio channels, with the assurance that it is not permissible to perform prayer by listening to radio, television and other means of communication.
The Ministry of Awqaf extended sincere congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and to the Qatari government and people and the entire Islamic nation on the advent of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
