More rain is expected in the country from Saturday, the weather forecast shows.

Qatar has witnessed thunderstorms, rain and strong winds in the past few days, which have also brought down the temperature around the country.

"Another state of atmospheric instability is expected to affect the country again from Saturday (April 18) until Wednesday (April 22)," the Met department said in a report on Thursday.

The weather is expected to gradually become "partly cloudy to cloudy" and there is a chance of rain of variable intensity in intermittent periods, becoming thundery at times, the report states.

This will be accompanied by strong winds and hail in some areas. The prevailing winds during this period will be mostly northeasterly to southeasterly, moderate to fresh at times in intensity with gusts exceeding 28 knots during thunderstorms, according to the weather office.

In addition, the wave height is expected to exceed 9ft during thunderstorms.

The maximum temperature is expected to range from 25-31C during this period and the minimum from 19-24C in different regions of the country, the report adds.

The Met department has urged everyone to be cautious, avoid marine activities and follow latest updates through its official social media accounts as this transitional period is known for fast weather fluctuations.
