The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Wednesday announced the registration of 283 new confirmed cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) in Qatar, and the recovery of 33 cases, taking the total number of those recovered to 406.

According to a MoPH statement on official Qatar News Agency (QNA), some of the new cases of Covid-19 are due to people being in contact with existing cases among citizens and residents, and a number of the new cases are among migrant workers in different areas.

“Some cases were discovered among citizens and residents who contacted health authorities after experiencing symptoms of inflammation in the respiratory system. The new infected cases have been placed under complete isolation and they are receiving necessary medical care,” QNA said.

 


The MoPH called on all members of the society to stay at home and not to go out except where absolutely necessary.

According to a tweet from the MoPH, with a total of 1,862 people tested for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, as many as 54,484 have been tested so far in Qatar.

There are 3,711 positive cases to date in Qatar and 3,298 active cases currently undergoing treatment. The total number of Covid-19 deaths so far in Qatar is seven, according to the tweet.

The MoPH requested everyone to fully co-operate and adhere to all health guidelines and preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection, including complying with social and physical distancing guidelines.

The MoPH also recommended that the public regularly visit its website to find out more advice about staying safe, QNA added.
