The National Center for Educational Development at Qatar University has announced a new initiative, Awen, in continuation of its Sanid programme, to support parents, students and teachers in distance learning operations.
"The aim is to produce educational videos on various topics," the centre's director, Dr Abdullah Abu-Tineh, said. The areas of the new campaign include topics with scientific content or how to teach it to all levels of study; educational topics for students with special needs or talented students and educational topics for preparing for exams and overcoming their concerns.
Each video should have one to three-minute duration. The content, design and production quality should be in accordance with language and scientific standards, and sources clearly attributed. The videos should be designed by parents, students, teachers, or together.
“This initiative aims to spread a culture of producing targeted resources for distance learning, and to encourage parents, students and teachers to invest their time in meaningful and beneficial educational work," Dr Abu-Tineh said.
It is also intended to enhance friendly relations between members of the same family, and to transfer concepts of leadership, creativity, innovation and social responsibility into real-life.
“The centre will implement a series of training workshops on how to produce educational videos across its multiple platforms,” he added.
Those who wish to participate in this initiative should send the link of the produced videos and their personal data to the e-mail: [email protected]. A specialised committee reviews videos in terms of content quality, design and production.
The videos authorised by the committee will be published on the various centres of the College of Education and Qatar University. The creators of the best videos will be honoured in a special ceremony by the centre in the fall semester.
