The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Tuesday announced the registration of 197 new confirmed cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) in Qatar, and the recovery of 39 cases, taking the total number of those recovered to 373.

The new cases are people who were in contact with positive cases among citizens and residents, official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

The new infected cases have been placed under complete isolation and they are receiving necessary medical care.

The MoPH called on all members of the society to stay at home and not to go out except where absolutely necessary.

According to a tweet from the MoPH, with a total of 1,794 people tested for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, as many as 52,622 have been tested so far in Qatar.

There are 3,428 positive cases to date in Qatar and 3,048 active cases currently undergoing treatment. The total number of Covid-19 deaths so far in Qatar is seven, according to the tweet.

The MoPH requested everyone to fully co-operate and adhere to all health guidelines and preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection, including complying with social and physical distancing guidelines.

The MoPH also recommended that the public regularly visit its website to find out more advice about staying safe, QNA added.
