The Zakat Fund of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has extended assistance worth QR29,225,852 to eligible families registered with it in March 2020.
The financial assistance includes monthly support, one-time aid; treatment expenses, tuition fees; debtors; charity basket and other assistance.
This was paid for those entitled in accordance with the Shariah regulations.
QR 12,088,429 is distributed as periodic assistance provided monthly to eligible families.
The one-time aid, an assistance granted when needed, amounted to QR 3,291,920.
QR639,878 assistance was distributed to families who are proven to be eligible for treatment expenses for their sick members, and QR 4,248,255 for those in families eligible for assistance who have students enrolled in different education stages, as well as QR8,538,000 for charity basket in addition to 178,100 as other assistance.
The Zakat Fund is the government entity to which the law entrusts the jurisdiction to collect Zakat and pay them to the beneficiaries who meet the Shariah conditions.
