Unsettled weather conditions are expected in the country along with thunderstorms from Sunday night until next weekend, the Qatar Met department has said.
A report issued Wednesday says the country "is expected to be affected by a state of atmospheric instability due to the extension of a low-pressure system over the region starting from Sunday night, and lasting until the end of next week".
The skies are expected to gradually become cloudy over some periods and there is a chance of rain of variable intensity, which may become thundery at times, accompanied by strong winds and hail in some areas.
The prevailing winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly, moderate to fresh in intensity and becoming strong at times, especially during thunderstorms. This, in turn, will cause rising dust and low visibility in some areas as well as high waves exceeding 8ft offshore, the report states.
In addition, temperatures are expected to drop slightly during this period and stay around their normal average levels for April. The maximum temperature is likely to range from 27-32C and the minimum from 18-23C in different regions during this period, according to the weather office.
The Met department has urged everyone to be cautious, avoid all marine activities and follow latest updates through its official social media accounts as this transitional period is known for fast weather fluctuations.
