HE the Chairman of the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, ambassador Mohamed al-Emadi announced that the committee, in co-operation and co-ordination with Qatar Fund for Development, will finance the employment of 100 medical personnel, including doctors and nurses, in the Gaza Strip as temporary employment for six months, to cover the shortfall experienced by hospitals and health centres in the Strip to address the outbreak of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Ambassador al-Emadi said that the process of employing medical personnel, including doctors and nurses, in the Strip will be carried out in co-operation with the relevant government agencies, headed by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
He pointed out that the project, which aims to support the health ministry personnel in the Strip, comes within the grant of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to the Gaza Strip, at a value of $150mn.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health had sent out a distress call to the international community to provide health requirements to tackle the novel coronavirus, explaining that Gaza medical teams are currently working with limited resources and capabilities and in need of urgent support and help.
