Qatar Airways’ loyalty programme, Privilege Club said it will extend or reinstate loyal members’ tier status for 12 months, for memberships due to expire before January 31, 2021.
Members can retain their current tier benefits such as upgrades, shop and pay with Qmiles, extra baggage, lounge access, and more, for 12 months.
Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club recently announced a tier extension offer of up to six months to its members, but has doubled this to one year in recognition that its members continue to be impacted by travel restrictions and flight reductions resulting from the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
Additionally, ‘Gold’ and ‘Platinum’ members can now enjoy their ‘Qcredits’ for longer, as they will now remain valid for two years, as long as the tier is retained.
Qcredits for ‘Gold’ and ‘Platinum’ members can be spent on upgrades, extra baggage, and lounge access.
Following feedback from members, Privilege Club has also updated its policy to provide more flexibility to members with Qcredits by making them refundable.
Qatar Airways chief commercial officer Simon Talling-Smith, said: “At Qatar Airways, we realise that the people travelling right now are those who are trying to get home to their families, with the majority of business and leisure trips being postponed or cancelled. As travel restrictions increase, we want to reassure our Privilege Club members that they will not lose their hard-earned membership status.
“As such restrictions are outside of our control as an airline, we are honouring the loyalty our members have shown us by offering to extend or reinstate their tier membership and benefits for 12 months.”
Additionally, for member and employee safety and as a precautionary measure taken by Qatar to limit the spread of Covid-19, the Privilege Club Service Center located at Oryx Galleria Doha will be closed until further notice.
Members are encouraged to download and use the Qatar Airways mobile app for any Privilege Club related queries. The app provides members with convenient access to their membership account on the go.
For further assistance, members can call the dedicated Privilege Club hotline on +974 4023 0023.
Qatar Airways recently launched a new commercial policy to allow all passengers the flexibility to alter travel plans up to three days prior to departure for flights booked until September 30, 2020.
This flexibility enables passengers to change their travel plans free of charge by altering the dates of their booking or exchanging their ticket for a travel voucher valid for one year. The travel voucher will be equal to the value of their unutilised ticket – plus an additional 10%, excluding statutory taxes. This policy includes award flights. More information can be had from qatarairways.com/travelwithconfidence.
Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club recently announced even more benefits for ‘Silver’, ‘Gold’ and ‘Platinum’ members, with preferred seating guaranteed for free for ‘Gold’ or ‘Platinum’ members or at a 25% discount for ‘Silver’ members.
Privilege Club was launched in 2000 as a form of appreciation to Qatar Airways’ loyal passengers, offering them the opportunity to earn Qmiles when travelling on Qatar Airways, oneworld airlines, or any of the airlines’ partners.
Qmiles has since served as another “convenient” means of payment at the award-winning Qatar Duty Free outlets, located in both the departure and arrival halls of Hamad International Airport, and at Oryx Galleria in Doha.
Privilege Club offers four membership tiers – Burgundy, Silver, Gold and Platinum - each with their own exclusive benefits for members to enjoy. Qmiles are earned when members travel on Qatar Airways, oneworld airlines, other airline partners or use the services of any of the airline’s 60+ global partners.
Qmiles are awarded based on the booking class purchased, and can be redeemed for a range of exciting benefits and rewards including award flights, upgrades or extra baggage on Qatar Airways.
