HE the President of Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani stressed that Qatar is capable of overcoming the exceptional and critical period, through which the world is currently passing, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19), which has surprised everyone and posed an increasing challenge to countries as well as to societies.

In remarks on Wednesday, HE Sheikh Joaan said: "We have taken the decision to adopt the remote work method for the employees of the QOC, which is consistent with the serious and responsible measures taken by the State in order to curb the spread of the virus in society."

He stressed that "this decision is not an indication of any kind of surrender to reality, or retreat in front of challenges as much as being a case of positive adjustment, especially that we facing the challenge with men and women who believe in themselves, the homeland and the Olympic mission".

"We are all determined to utilise all the available means, foremost of which is modern technology.

We are not working remotely only for the sake of this work continuing, but for the sake of making the miracle of achievement and amazing ourselves before others," HE Sheikh Joaan said noting that this period is one of the rare times when the challenge becomes an opportunity for creativity.

On Sunday, Qatar Olympic Committee announced that it has activated "Remote Working" procedures taking effect on Monday, March 16, until further notice.

This step came in line with the protective measures taken by Qatar to limit the spread of Covid-19.
