The Shura Council held its regular weekly session on Monday under the chairmanship of HE the Speaker of the Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud.

At the beginning of the session, the Speaker praised the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued when he presided over Monday's meeting of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management to combat the new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and he ordered a set of decisions and measures in order to provide the necessary services to citizens and residents, foremost among which is to provide security and protection for them from the new Corona epidemic (Covid-19) to ensure continuing their normal life.

HE al-Mahmoud stressed that the Shura Council, which has been following the developments related to the coronavirus since the beginning, supports the directives of the Amir to control this epidemic and prevent its spread in the country as well as co-operates fully with the government to achieve this goal.

The Shura Council expressed its great satisfaction with the high directives and the decisions and measures ordered by the Amir, stressing that they reflected the wishes of citizens and put everyone in front of their responsibilities, while calling for full adherence to them and the enhancement of co-ordination between all State agencies and groups of society to implement them and reduce the impact of this disease.

The Council commended the efforts of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, the Chairman of the Committee, and all agencies operating within its framework, in particular the Ministry of Public Health. It also praised the understanding of the citizens and residents of the measures taken and their co-operation with the competent authorities in implementing them.

The Shura Council expressed its confidence in the ability of Qatar, the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and the awareness and efforts of the people of Qatar and residents to eradicate this epidemic as soon as possible and address its effects.

After extensive discussions, the Council presented, based on its role, a number of proposals and recommendations to the esteemed government in order to contribute to supporting its measures and efforts to combat this disease.
