The Criminal Investigation Department at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation has arrested a person from an Asian country for selling medical supplies illegally.

In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said the department had received information that the accused was selling medical supplies illegally at exorbitant prices.

The man was arrested after the required procedures were completed, and a large number of medical supplies were found in his possession.

These included 800 medical gloves, 7,900 medical masks and 1,502 pieces of medical clothing besides antibiotics, thermometers and money worth around QR200,000, the statement noted.

The suspect confessed that he purchased the supplies from various pharmacies in the country and was reselling them to the public illegally, exploiting their demand in the light of global health conditions.

After completing the necessary procedures, he was referred to the relevant authorities in the country for further legal measures.

The authorities concerned at the MoI have urged the public to report such violations that could cause damage to society in terms of both health and economy.
