*Connecting flights via HIA will continue
All inbound flights to Doha have been suspended for a 14-day period with effect from March 16, the Government Communications Office (GCO) yesterday said.
In a tweet, the GCO said the new regulation can be extended. Qatari citizens will be able to enter the country from any destination, but are required to spend 14 days in quarantine to safeguard their health and the health of the public.
Cargo and transit flights are exempt from this decision. Qatari students studying abroad are advised to comply with the policies in their country of residence; Qatar’s embassies are ready to provide the necessary assistance, including facilitating their return, if need be, the GCO added.
“Passengers with onward connections through HIA will be accepted for travel and Qatar Airways’ global network will continue its operation for transit passengers as normal,” a Qatar Airways statement said.
Cargo operations also remain unaffected, it added.
Qatar Airways also alerted passengers about suspension of its services to Kuwait and Jordan.
As a result of the decision of Kuwaiti authorities to suspend flights in and out of the country, Qatar Airways’ services to Kuwait will be on temporary hold until further notice.
“Like all airlines around the world, we have to balance the needs of our millions of passengers with the operational challenges we face due to entry restrictions imposed by a number of countries,” it continued.
Affected passengers can re-book their tickets to alternative dates or destinations, or request a full refund without charge, the airline said. For tickets outside of those dates or to countries not covered by this policy, normal fare rules apply for re-bookings or cancellations.
