The Economic and Cyber Crimes Department at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has referred some people accused of spreading rumours and misinformation on social media to the Public Prosecution for completion of legal procedures.
In a tweet, the MoI Tuesday said such activities affect the security and safety of the society.

On Monday, the ministry had warned the public against spreading, publishing or circulating rumours. "Involvement in spreading or circulating rumours is a serious offence and may expose you to legal accountability," the MoI had said, adding that the competent authorities will summon those who publish and circulate rumours and all legal measures will be taken against them.
