The Shura Council held its regular weekly session Monday under the chairmanship of HE the Speaker of the Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud.
During the meeting, the Council continued to discuss a draft law on setting minimum wages for workers and domestic workers, in light of the report of the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee on the draft law, and in the presence of HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs Yousef bin Mohamed al-Othman Fakhro, who gave a presentation of the draft law, its objectives and mechanisms for its implementation, explaining that the project comes within the framework of the Qatar National Vision 2030, the implementation of the National Development Strategy and in line with international standards.
HE the Minister responded to the inquiries of members of the Council regarding the draft law, confirming his response to the recommendations of the Committee in its report.
After extensive discussions, the Council recommended that the draft law be returned to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee to complete its study in light of the discussions that took place with HE the Minister and members of the Council in the meeting, in order to submit a supplementary report to the Council on it.
