*General Tax Authority receives official delegates from British Tax and Customs Authority

Qatar and the UK will share knowledge and experiences on tax procedures and mechanisms as the General Tax Authority received official delegates from the British Tax and Customs Authority here.
The British Tax and Customs Authority officials are on a 5-day visit, which was aimed at reviewing tax procedures and policies applied in Qatar and exchanging experiences in common areas of interests between the two nations.

The visit, which lasted from March 1 to 5, covered daily meetings during which the delegation was briefed on the latest developments in the tax systems applied by Qatar, in addition to identifying the main challenges faced by the General Tax Authority in the design and implementation of the new tax systems in order to benefit from the experience of the British Tax Agency in this regard.
Ahmed bin Isa al-Muhannadi, president, General Tax Authority said, "We are keen to benefit from the experience of the British Tax and Customs Authority in managing the tax systems because of their considerable experience in this field. The meetings between the two sides have come out with significant results and recommendations that will have a definite impact on the development of tax mechanisms in the State of Qatar."
In line with the economic aspirations of Qatar, and in achieving the vision of Qatar 2030, al-Muhannadi affirmed that the authority is willing to share knowledge tax policies and procedures between Qatar and other countries known for their exceptional taxation policies.
Bader Shaheen al-Kuwari, director, Department of Agreements and International Cooperation, said, “The visit was aimed at reviewing the latest tax experiences and developments applied by the British Tax Authority, focusing on the main areas of work, which are public policies, tax procedures and mechanisms.
“We have formed a joint working group between the two sides, which will follow up on the cooperation plan and exchange everyday experiences, according to the agreed work plan that will be developed based on the bilateral coordination that took place during this visit”.
