QU’s career fair, which is taking place at the College of Business and Economics this year, is considered one of the most prominent events that the university’s Career Development Centre organises, in order to provide a platform for the students and alumni to get acquainted with the professional opportunities that the Qatari labour market is presenting through the participating entities, and provide them with promising professional opportunities such as employment, internship or academic sponsorship.
The fair gives highschool students and freshmen a chance to know what the labour market needs in terms of specialties, which is important as it helps them choose suitable career paths according to what Qatar’s career sectors need, the Director of the Career Development Centre Maha al-Marri said.
She explained that the Career Development Centre will be organising, on the sidelines of the fair, a number of activities and training workshops, which will help the university’s students to be well prepared to achieve the career path they seek to accomplish, noting that these workshops include topics such as resume writing methods and job interview skills.
She also pointed out that the centre pays great attention to social media, by sharing many tips on how to benefit from the career fair and prepare for it within the fair’s marketing and awareness campaign in its 14th round.
The fair is part of the students affairs sector in QU, which is the entity responsible for career development and instruction, as well as training that will prepare students to engage in the career market and help them in obtaining the best job opportunities and offers available.
