The campaigns undertaken by registration and licence inspectors at the ministry resulted in 21 penalties for violations such as practising unlicensed activities, failing to meet the general and special requirements of commercial shops, opening and managing a shop without a licence and having a residence inside the store, the MoCI said in a statement.
Forty-one notifications were issued to violating shops to amend their status in the licensing and commercial records.
The ministry urged merchants and shop owners to abide by the regulations and laws governing commercial activities.
It also invited merchants and shop owners to learn about the laws and regulations governing commercial activities by visiting the MoCI’s website at www.moci.gov.qa to avoid legal accountability and fines.
According to the ministry, the inspection campaigns come within the framework of its keenness to regulate and monitor commercial activities in Qatar and to ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing commercial activities, in order to crack down on infringements and uncover violations.
The MoCI has urged all citizens and residents to report violations regarding registration and commercial licences through the call centre: 16001, e-mail: [email protected], Twitter: @MOCIQATAR, Instagram: MOCIQATAR, and the ministry’s application on iPhone and Android devices: MOCIQATAR
