The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) participated in a discussion session with pioneers of environmental initiatives, organised by the Friends of the Environment Centre of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and was attended by Director of Waste Management Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment Engineer Hamad Jassem al-Bahr, and Assistant Director of the Department Natural Reserves Salem al-Safran.

During the meeting, which was held on the occasion of the World Wildlife Day, ministry officials reviewed the efforts made by Qatar to conserve biological diversity, develop natural resources, and preserve the environment of the country.

The ministry officials welcomed, during discussions with young people who are pioneers of environmental initiatives in Qatar, all the ideas and proposals presented by the participants in the session, which are all aimed at achieving the goals of integration and strengthening efforts and work together to preserve the environment of Qatar.

In a separate context, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by the Agricultural Affairs Department, delivered the second batch of local dates supplied from registered local farms, which amounted to about 10tonnes, for distribution to needy families and workers within Qatar.

The first batch of local dates that were delivered to Qatar Red Crescent amounted to 220tonnes, as they were distributed to the displaced Syrians on the Turkish border.

The Agricultural Affairs Department will distribute the third and fourth batches of dates in the coming period.
