Qatar Charity’s (QC), through its new delegation, has distributed relief aid to Syrian refugees in a camp near the Turkish Syrian border, and food assistance in many Turkish cities bordering Syria.
The delegation, which is the second of its kind in a week, was headed by Qatar Charity CEO Yusuf bin Ahmed al-Kuwari and included many Qatari figures.
The distributed aid included 2,000 tents with 15,000 plastic insulators, 15,000 food baskets each weighing 73kg, blankets, personal hygiene kits, winter clothes, heaters and 375,000 litres of fuel.
The aid valued at more than QR10mn is expected to benefit 33,600 families with 170,000 individuals, QC has said in a statement.
The aid came in conjunction with the live broadcast hosted by several media outlets in Qatar, on Friday and yesterday, to raise donations for Syrian displaced and refugees as part of the ‘Sham Deserves’ campaign.
The campaign, being implemented by QC in partnership with Qatar Media Corp, aims to deliver assistance to 250,000 Syrian refugees and displaced persons in the areas of shelter, food, water, sanitation and health.
Donations in favour of the ‘Sham Deserves’ campaign can be made through QC’s website, mobile app, 27 branches across the country and 97 collection points in commercial centres.
Donors can also request for a ‘home collector’ through the mobile app and dial the hotline, 44667711, to make their contributions.
Mobile donation is also available. To donate QR100, QR200, QR500 and QR1,000, one can send an SMS with the code “SOS” to 92642, 92015, 92428 and 92429, respectively.
