The 2020 Ooredoo Ride of Champions is set to enjoy a record attendance of Qatar’s youth thanks to high levels of participation from schools in the country, the organisers have said.
With just 10 days to go until the close of registration of the event (to be held on March 13), schools are showing their support by registering students for the Ooredoo Ride of Champions. In appreciation, the event organisers are providing exhibition space at the event for schools, with more than 50 registrations, to exhibit their learning programmes to prospective parents.
The principal of Newton International School Lagoon, Trudie Masterson, had this to say about her school’s participation in the event: “We are really happy to support the Ooredoo Ride of Champions. We have more than 2,000 students in our school and nine schools in our group, and we have informed principals around the country to encourage their children to ride.
“I know for sure that Lagoon will have the biggest student body going because we are promoting this with a passion. We feel, as a school, it is extremely important for children to get involved in activities in the community, particularly those involving sport. We are delighted to launch this programme.”
Spaces are still available for this year’s event, in all age classes, with registration open at www.rocdoha.qa. The first 2,000 participants receive limited-edition bike jerseys (for age 9+) and event bike bottles.
