The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has called for respecting the regulations applied in mosques, specifically not to hang posters or place copies of “unlicensed” Holy Qur’ans in the country, or promote charitable activities or fundraising unless approval has been granted from the designated authorities in accordance with legally established procedure in that regard.
In accordance with the Article 13 from Item 1 of Amiri Decree No 23 of 2014 on the organisational chart for the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the ministry has the full legal right to withdraw the unlicensed Holy Qur’ans according to the laws of Qatar, and it is also entitled to take all legal measures in connection with any violations that occur during the prayer time or inside the mosques.
