Charriol, a renowned Swiss manufacturer of luxury watches and jewellery, is taking part in the ongoing Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition (DJWE).
The brand is part of the Al Muftah Jewellery pavilion at DJWE, which is taking place at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Among the highlights is the Celtic Legacy.
“It was 1983 when a young Philippe Charriol sought to bring his spirit of bon vivant to the world with a knack for artful living and an eye for technical mastery. It was the debut of the Celtic Collection, his first, and with this elegant timepiece a legacy was born. A twist of fate would lead him to the masterful beauty of intricate and ancient metal work, inspiration which he then imbued precious materials, luxurious codes and a modern spirit,” a press statement noted.
Thirty-seven years later, in honour of his passing, Philippe’s original stroke of genius is reimagined and redesigned. A “new watch for a new decade”, the Celtic Legacy is a fitting celebration of the life of a visionary entrepreneur and creative soul.
The Celtic Legacy is the epitome of an icon - a “simple, timeless classic” that features new slim architecture while revisiting the shapes and codes of Charriol.
The entire Maison and creative director - and newly appointed chairwoman Coralie Charriol, worked in the search for a line that honoured its founder, her father’s life’s work.
Coralie Charriol said: “As we looked ahead to 2020, a new decade and new chapter, we knew we wanted to find a really special way to honour dad. Nothing seemed to capture his spirit quite like the original: the Celtic Collection. We are so proud to have remade it, just like I’ll be proud to wear it and share it with the world. It’s the most fitting way to honour his life and to keep his memory at hand.”
Similar to its original iteration, the Celtic Legacy is offered in two versions: women’s and men’s, subtle variations that play with the establish Charriol design codes - fine cable encircles each case. The updated design features a thinner bezel and therefore more open dial. The crown is set at 4.30 and the seconds sub-dial at 7.00 - ideal proportions that set off a balanced and clear dial made with refined materials and details.
The collection will be available in July 2020.
For the ‘Charriol woman’, the Celtic Legacy presents a slender silhouette - its mother-of-pearl dial is decorated with 10 diamond indexes and 28 diamonds punctuating the sub-dial. Signature to Charriol is the bracelet of twisted 18kt gold cable, which comes in two widths: five cables of 2mm each for the 24mm diameter case or six cables for the 30mm case model. This full yellow gold version add a hint of luxurious brightness to the wrist of the wearer - a woman who combines elegance and precision at all times in her own unique style.
For its men’s counterpart, the Celtic Legacy merges simplicity with impactful design. The men’s models, which measure 40mm in diameter, feature a white porcelain dial with Roman numerals and a black leather with double folding clasp strap. Infused with classic style, the Celtic Legacy is the perfect piece for the man who knows that today, less is more.
