Hamad Medical Corp will organise the 8th Middle East Forum on quality and safety in healthcare from March 19-22 with the participation of nearly 3,000 physicians, nurses, pharmacists, specialists and those interested in this field.
Nasser al-Naimi, the Deputy Chief of Quality, Director of Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute and the co-chair of the Middle East Forum, said that this year’s forum is being held at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) under the slogan ‘Igniting Change, Shaping the Future Together’, adding that the forum will include, for the first time, four educational tours to Hamad Medical Corporation’s exceptional centres.
He told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the educational tours aim to highlight the experiences of these distinguished centres in developing the health system and reaching the highest levels of safety in patient care.
These centres are the Ambulance Service, Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Center, Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement and Hamad Medical Corp Trauma and Emergency Center, he added.
He said that the forum is organised annually by Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute in collaboration with the US Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI).
It involves more than 20 educational and training workshops supervised by local and international experts in the field of healthcare development sciences, al-Naimi stated.
He revealed that the forum this year includes the largest educational programme by organising 60 lectures by 50 international lecturers from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement as well as quality and safety personnel from HMC and health and educational institutions in Qatar, such as the Ministry of Public Health, Primary Health Care Corporation, Sidra Medicine, Qatar University, World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), and Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute, in addition to speakers from different countries such as the United Kingdom, Kuwait and Oman.
He explained that the forum will also have an exhibition that will be organised with the participation of 15 institutions, including the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute, Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement, Primary Health Care Corp, Qatar Red Crescent, Sidra Medicine, Qatar University, World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) and others.
In addition to that, the exhibition will have more than 150 research posters regarding quality and safety in healthcare.
Al-Naimi pointed out that 60% of the research posters were provided by Hamad Medical Corp and the rest will be by private health authorities inside the countries and medical research institutions from outside Qatar, all of which cover various topics that reflect the goals of the Forum.
He indicated that the forum will also include many discussion sessions that focus on the latest developments and experiences in the field of quality and safety of healthcare, adding that this year the focus will be on discussing services aimed at patients, as a lecture will be organised in which some patients will participate in order to talk about their experiences inside health institutions in the country.
