Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Community College of Qatar (CCQ), in an endeavour to strengthen co-operation in fields of common concern and contribute to human and social development,
The MoU was signed by CEO of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work Amal bint Abdullatif al-Mannai, and President of the Community College of Qatar Dr Mohamed bin Ibrahim al-Nuaimi, during a special ceremony held at the QFSW and in the presence of a group of dignitaries of the Foundation and all the directors of its affiliated centers.
The partnership aims at bolstering civil society organisations and centres that operate under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, upgrading and developing programmes that contribute to the advancement of these centres to realise their goals of association and serve their purposes.
In addition, this partnership is established to achieve QFSW's mission through co-operation in exchanging experiences, research, studies and data which support the goals of MoU in full compliance with the governing laws and regulations of both sides, as well as accelerate the joint work in the field of practical application programmes related to honing of expertise and enhancing personnel capacity building.
CEO of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work enunciated her aspirations to benefit from the distinguished capabilities of the Community College of Qatar in its specialisation. Hopefully, this MoU can be able to serve the goals of the Foundation and its affiliated centres in the various domains of social work, she noted.
Al-Mannai indicated that joint work in the field of training programmes will equip both parties with refined experiences and multiple skills to develop a Qatari personality required to build a country with distinct national competencies.
Responding to a question by Qatar News Agency (QNA) about the mechanism of implementing the agreement and the most prominent joint programmes, al-Mannai explained that the duration of the agreement is 3 years, which can be extended, pointing out that there will be fruitful co-operation to enhance and support volunteering efforts for students of the CCQ, in addition to exchanging academic research and experiences and holding educational seminars and dialogues between community elites and college students, as well as holding scientific conferences in the future.
The Foundation will work to provide the opportunity for the students of CCQ to practice various skills in academic specialisations fields directly related to the specialisations of QFSW's affiliated centres, al-Mannai stated, adding that the co-operation in the field of voluntary services will provide opportunities for contributions based on student volunteering activity at the Foundation and its centres.
For his part, CCQ president said: "Today's MoU marks the beginning of a promising partnership that will combine the forces of both entities for an even greater positive social impact. CCQ is honoured to partner with the QFSW and help support its noble aim of making meaningful contributions to Qatari society through its support of civil society organisations."
In a statement to QNA, al-Nuaimi said that the college is making intensive efforts to serve the Qatari community by offering academic programmes that suit the requirements of the labour market, and organising educational seminars and printing and educational brochures for youth. He noted that signing the MoU with the QFSW is a fruitful co-operation in the field of sponsoring student social activities in the college, exchanging research and academic experiences, and holding conferences and training workshops to serve the Foundation's efforts in the social work sector in the country.
Established in August 2013, Qatar Foundation for Social Work operates as a non-profit body that aims to develop civil society organisations that operate under its umbrella and enhance their capabilities, advance their roles in serving community, and develop effective strategies and policies that contribute to the advancement of such centres.
Qatar Foundation for Social Work oversees several centres including Social Development Centre (Nama), Al Shafallah Centre for Persons with Disability and Best Buddies Qatar, Family Counseling Centre (Wifaq), The Orphan Care Centre (Dreama), The Centre for Empowerment & Elderly Care (Ehsan), The Protection & Social Rehabilitation Centre (AMAN) and Al Noor Centre for the Blind.
