The Kuwaiti embassy in Doha yesterday marked the 59th anniversary of Kuwait’s National Day and the 29th anniversary of its liberation with a grand reception that reflected the heritage and traditions of Kuwait and its people.
Kuwait’s ambassador Hafiz Mohamed al-Ajmi thanked the Qatari leadership and government for sharing the joy of the occasion with their Kuwaiti brothers. 
The reception was attended by HE the Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi, HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs Yousef bin Mohamed al-Othman Fakhro, HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari, HE the Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak al-Kuwari, HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi and director of protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ambassador Ibrahim Yousif Fakhro. Also, a considerable number of diplomats from various countries, leading Qatari businesspersons and other dignitaries and guests were present on the occasion. 
A ceremonial cake was cut on the occasion. Earlier, ambassador al-Ajmi stressed that the Qatar-Kuwait relations were deep-rooted while speaking to the local press. The two countries have a long history of excellent relations and both have achieved huge development over the years due to their wise leadership, he added. 
The envoy noted that both His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, are working relentlessly to find a solution to the GCC crisis.  
He also expressed hope while referring to the appointment of a Kuwaiti Dr Nayef al-Hajraf as the GCC Secretary-General, who adopts the directives of the Amir of Kuwait and has vast experience in the region besides having visited various GCC countries. He is also expected to visit Qatar as part of his first tour in the region as the new GCC secretary-general. The ambassador appreciated the excellent brotherly relations between Qatar and Kuwait and stressed that these have seen great development over the past few years in all fields for the benefit and prosperity of both countries. He noted that co-operation between the two countries covers all fields, including diplomacy, economy, business and investment, tourism, culture and people-to-people relations. 
He added that joint investments of the two countries have crossed more than $7bn and the trade exchange between them has significantly increased over the past three years.
