Chairman of Qatar's Gaza Reconstruction Committee, ambassador Mohamed al-Emadi, Friday announced the postponement of monthly instalment payments for beneficiaries of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa City in Khan Yunis Governorate in the southern Gaza Strip for 2020, QNA reported.
Ambassador al-Emadi responded to requests made by residents of the city in the light of the difficult economic conditions the people of Gaza were going through, which prompted them to request delaying the payment of instalments.
He said social research conducted by the Housing and Works Ministry in Gaza would determine the rate of monthly instalment exemptions for the beneficiaries. While some families would be partially exempted, the poorest families - as determined by to the ministry - would be fully exempted from the payment in view of the difficult economic conditions the residents were facing, he noted.
This is the third time that ambassador al-Emadi has announced a payment exemption for residents of Hamad City. They did not pay any instalments in 2018 and 2019, QNA added.
