Galfar Al Misnad is the first proud sponsor of the Qatar senior national cricket team, which will compete in various upcoming tournaments.
QCA President Yousef Jeham al-Kuwari declared at the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) headquarters yesterday that QCA has signed the sponsorship agreement with the rising construction company of Qatar for one year.Also present on the occasion were Galfar Al Misnad Executive Director Satish G Pillai, QCA Assistant General Secretary Eissa Ali al-Ghanem, QCA Public Relations Director Eissa al -Yacoub, QCA Operations Manager Manzoor Ahmad, Qatar national team captain Iqbal Hussain Chaudhry and vice-captain Mohamed Rizlan.
QCA president al-Kuwari expressed his delight at the sponsorship of the national senior team and thanked the Galfar al-Misnad management for their support. “Cricket is undoubtedly one of the most popular sports in Qatar and we’re extremely pleased with the rapid rise of the national team. Galfar Al Misnad has already been supporting the sport for many years, their team is also very strong and its many players are playing for the national team.
“We’re proud to announce that Galfar Al Misnad has taken this partnership to another level by becoming the sponsor of the Qatar national senior team. We’re really thrilled by this gesture of Galfar Al Misnad. This is an ideal partnership which will hopefully set a good example.
“We expect more Qatari companies to come forward in support to cricket. Also this sponsorship will go a long way in not only boosting the national team but also the sport in Qatar,” the QCA chief added.
Galfar Al Misnad Executive Director Satish G Pillai commented: “The human development is at the core of our company’s strategy so we started many initiatives. Football and cricket teams are among those. We have developed a good cricket team which is finishing regularly among top two or the best four.
“We decided to strengthen our relationship with cricket further and we’re extremely happy to get the opportunity to sponsor the Qatar national team. The Qatar national team has been progressing well and we would soon like to see the team playing in the World Cups. The sponsorship right now is for a year but it will be extended,” Pillai added.
Qatar team skipper Iqbal Hussain Chaudhry, who also plays for Galfar Al Misnad, said his team appreciates the sponsorship and would try to do its best in the upcoming tournament in Oman. “We’re lucky to have very supportive people in the QCA and Galfar Al Misnad. As a result, we get everything that benefits all of us. This is the first time that the Qatar national team has got the sponsorship. The boys are feeling quite motivated and we would keep working hard towards improving our rankings through good results.”
On the occasion, al-Kuwari and Pillai presented both Chaudhry and Rizlan the Qatar national team T-shirts with Galfar Al Misnad name across the front. Qatar will soon travel to Muscat, Oman to play in the eight-team Wester Region T20 International qualifiers for the 2020 Asia Cup.
