Fog and low visibility were reported from around the country on Sunday, and similar conditions have been forecast for this morning as well.
The prevailing conditions also led to a rise in relative humidity, according to the weather office.
In its daily weather report on Sunday, the Qatar Met department said poor visibility is expected in most areas this morning due to misty to foggy conditions. Visibility may drop to 2km or less in the morning due to the prevailing conditions.
The detailed forecast for Monday also says moderate temperature will be experienced during the day along with some clouds, and it will be cold by night.
In a post on social media on Sunday, the Met department said the foggy conditions are expected to continue until 9am Monday. "Kindly take extra care and follow latest updates through our official social media accounts," it said.
Poor visibility has also been forecast in some offshore areas in the early hours of the day. The conditions will turn from misty to foggy, and scattered clouds are also likely on Monday.
A minimum temperature of 10C is expected on Monday in Dukhan, followed by 11C in Abu Samra, 13C in Wakra, Mesaieed and Ruwais, 16C in Al Khor and 18C in Doha. The maximum, on the other hand, will range from 22C in Wakra, Mesaieed and Dukhan to 27C in Abu Samra, with Doha expected to see a high of 25C.
The Met department issued several alerts on Twitter on the foggy conditions on Sunday.
In the morning, it recorded a drop in visibility to below 2km as a result of the formation of thick fog, especially in the northern and southern parts of the country, and advised people to "pay attention while driving".
In another tweet, it said "we are currently monitoring high humidity in some areas of the country with low horizontal visibility due to the formation of light fog".
Later, in the evening, the department tweeted that a noticeable rise in relative humidity had been observed, exceeding 90% in the Hamad International Airport area.
Fog also blanketed Doha on Sunday, including in areas along the Arabian Gulf such as West Bay, the Doha Corniche and The Pearl-Qatar, with netizens tweeting and sharing images and videos of the prevailing conditions. The videos showed how a layer of fog moved in from the sea.
It also said thick fog was observed in the northern areas and visibility was less than 100m. The department provided a list of safety tips to be observed while driving in foggy conditions.
