The Al Dana Green Run was aimed at encouraging individuals to adopt a healthy lifestyle as well as promoting environmental protection and eco-friendly practices.

Expressing his gratitude for the great turnout of participants at the event, Dr R Seetharaman, CEO of Doha Bank Group, said: “The enormous participation that we witnessed at Al Dana Green Run in its 15th version certainly proves Doha Bank’s success in mobilising many segments of the Qatari society to embrace physical activity and sports as part of their life, thanks to its positive impact on their overall well-being. We are joined in our efforts by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, which strives to promote a healthy lifestyle and nurture a physically active nation. Another crucial cause behind the event is encouraging people to preserve the environment and conserve its natural resources, as well as raising awareness of the most pressing environmental issues.

“The event’s aims are well aligned with the goals of the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030, in which raising healthy future generations and environmental protection are integral pillars for development. Therefore, the race has successfully brought different segments of the Qatari society together and united them to realise two essential aims of the QNV.”

Braik al-Marri, chief retail banking officer at Doha Bank, emphasised that the race is imperative to promoting Al Dana Savings Scheme, which is one of the bank’s most important products.

“We are very delighted to witness Al Dana Green Run’s great turnout which is indicative of the positive impact of our initiative. We also believe that this success goes in line with Al Dana Savings Scheme’s popularity among Qatar’s citizens and residents, which is evidenced by the steady growth of the number of Al Dana accountholders. Indeed, Al Dana Green Run also seeks to inform more people of Al Dana Savings’ Scheme so as to encourage them to multiply their savings in a record time.”

Al Dana Green Run-2020 featured a 3km race for different categories of males and females from a variety of age groups. The first five winners in each category received special prizes and 10 randomly chosen people from the audience took home gifts. Families enjoyed multiple entertainment activities, including face painting, musical shows, painting workshops, and football and basketball contests.

Al Dana Savings Scheme offers Qatar’s highest individual prize, the largest number of draw prize winners and the biggest prize pool that offers cash prizes worth millions of riyals. Customers can enter the draws by holding a minimum balance of QR5,000 in any of the five Al Dana accounts, with each QR1,000 giving them an entry.
